I had the honor of photographing the Big Latch On event yesterday morning in Yuma and wanted to share a few of my favorite images. Normally, I photograph birth and birth only, so it was fun to stretch a bit and try something new.
We all met at the North End Coffeehouse in downtown Yuma. It's a great little space with brick walls, gorgeous artwork adorning the walls, good coffee, and--as this celiac was excited to see--house-made gluten free granola bars.
Everyone started trickling in at around ten am, and signed in.
At 10:30 AM, the Latch On began. If you're not familiar with the event, women worldwide gather in public to all nurse their babies at the same time, in order to normalize breastfeeding. Everyone latched on, and raise their hands to signify they were participating.
And then everyone chatted with old friends, made new ones, enjoyed their coffee and played with North End's selection of games, and nursed their babies in public.
The morning finished with a raffle of prizes, and an awesome nursing cake.
Thanks for coming out, Yuma! And big thanks to this years' organizers.
